'Millions of meals' to support students and people facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 24, the Vietnam Volunteer Resource Information Center coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Youth Union, and the Nghe An Provincial Student Association to donate meals and necessities to workers, students of universities, colleges, and people in difficult circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The "Million Meals" program was implemented by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union in coordination with CARE International in Vietnam, the Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund and 2 accompanying enterprises since April 10, 2020. After more than 1 year, the program has so far given more than 736,000 meals worth more than 11 billion VND to nearly 47,500 people in difficult circumstances who have been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in 18 provinces and cities across the country. In Nghe An, the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Youth Union and the Nghe An Provincial Student Association presented 200 meals to 200 people in Minh Tap village (Minh Chau commune, Dien Chau district); 200 meals to students of Vinh University, Vinh Medical University, Vinh University of Technical Education, College of Culture and Arts and 100 meals to 100 young workers negatively affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. Each gift includes necessities: rice, chicken eggs, canned meat, fish sauce, purple sweet potatoes with a total value of 225,000 VND/gift. In the coming time, the program will continue to give 240,000 food packages to 16,000 people in 5 localities heavily affected by Covid-19 including Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Tinh and Nghe An.
