The Vietnam Register announced that 119 Ford Rangers and Ford Everests will be recalled due to faulty airbag inflator systems.

According to the Vietnam Register, 119 Ford Rangers and Ford Everests will be recalled due to a defect in the airbag inflator system.

Specifically, there are 6 Ford Everest 2.2L 2WD cars manufactured from December 10, 2016 - January 12, 2017 and 113 Ranger Wildtrak 3.2L pickup trucks manufactured from October 29, 2016 - January 27, 2017 recalled this time.

According to the Vietnam Register, the airbag initiator in the side airbag assembly of some Ranger and Everest vehicles may contain a substandard chemical mixture during the manufacturing process. This substandard chemical mixture may cause the airbag to not inflate as designed, which in some cases means the side airbag assembly may not deploy in the event of a collision.

The recall period will last from October 6, 2017 to September 30, 2020. It is expected that the time to replace the above airbag assembly will take from 1-2 hours and the repair cost will be covered by Ford Vietnam.

The Vietnam Register also recommends that vehicle owners, for their own benefit and safety and that of their passengers, should bring their vehicles to dealers to promptly fix errors to ensure safe operation.
