The number of vehicles that need to be updated with software includes 276 vehicles imported and officially distributed by Toyota Vietnam.

The Japanese auto group is recalling 276 Lexus NX200t vehicles in the Vietnamese market to update the brake control software.

The Lexus NX200t is equipped with a brake assist system controlled by the ECU. After the driver steps on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle while the gearshift lever is still in the forward (D) or neutral (N) position, the system will maintain braking force to keep the vehicle stopped even after the driver releases the brake pedal.

The Vietnam Register recommends that consumers quickly bring their vehicles to the official Lexus distribution system to check and update the software.

However, the ECU software that controls the brakes on some vehicles is programmed incorrectly, causing the brake assist system to not function as designed. In some specific cases, the brake assist system does not function properly, causing the vehicle to drift forward or backward unintentionally.

Therefore, Lexus decided to recall the vehicles with this error to update the software for the ECU. The number of vehicles that need to update the software in the Vietnamese market includes 276 vehicles imported and distributed by Toyota Vietnam. All vehicles were manufactured in Japan between December 22, 2014 and December 7, 2016.

For Lexus NX200t vehicles not distributed by Toyota Vietnam, upon request from the vehicle owner, Toyota Vietnam said it will assist in contacting Toyota Corporation Japan to collect information.

“After receiving confirmation and approval from Toyota Japan, the Lexus distribution system in Vietnam will update the brake control ECU software free of charge for consumers,” Toyota Vietnam said.

The Vietnam Register recommends that consumers quickly bring their vehicles to the Lexus authorized distribution system for inspection and software update to ensure the best benefits and service quality.

The recall is scheduled to begin on January 12, 2017 and end on January 12, 2019. The expected time to check and update the software for each vehicle is approximately 0.7 hours.
