Mercedes recalls over 1,000 vehicles in Vietnam.

The luxury car manufacturer from Germany is recalling 1,031 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Vietnamese market.

All of the Mercedes-Benz CKD (completely knocked down) vehicles included in the recall are from the E-Class line.

Of these, 1,025 vehicles are domestically assembled (CKD) from the E200, E250, E250 CGI, E300, and E400 models; and 6 are imported as completely built units (CBU) from the CLS 350 and CLS 63 models. All vehicles subject to recall were manufactured and assembled between January 1, 2012, and December 2, 2014.

According to information from the Vietnam Registering and Inspection Department (Ministry of Transport), the reason for this recall is a defect in the rubber gasket in the engine compartment that could detach from the auxiliary bulkhead of the engine compartment. Under certain conditions, detached parts of the rubber gasket could come into contact with hot engine components, posing a safety hazard during vehicle operation.

Therefore, the Vietnam Registering and Inspection Department advises consumers to bring their vehicles to authorized Mercedes-Benz dealerships for inspection and repair to avoid unnecessary risks.

According to the Vietnam Registering and Inspection Agency, all inspection and rectification activities will be carried out free of charge. The inspection and rectification time for each vehicle is approximately 3 hours. The recall program is expected to end on December 31, 2015.
