Ariane Lak, 51, who claims to be a descendant of the Qajari royal family, an ancient dynasty in Iran, was found sleeping in a bustling shopping district in Milan after disappearing from her home in March, according to Mirror.
Ms Lak is a British-Iranian millionaire who speaks four languages and runs a film production company. Her family hired a detective to look for her after she disappeared six months ago. They believe she may be in Milan because she has friends there.
The unnamed detective, a former Albanian police officer, traveled to Milan with a photo of Ms. Lak to ask questions. Several homeless people said they had seen her sleeping on the streets. A hairdresser said Ms. Lak had been a customer of his and arrived in a “filthy” state.
Upon finding Mrs. Lak, the detective contacted her sister, asking her to come to Milan for help because Mrs. Lak was suffering from memory loss and confusion.
"I don't know. I was probably walking, I was attacked and robbed. I fell and hit my head on the ground," said Ms. Lak.
"I love Milan. People here, including passersby and volunteers, offered to help but I didn't want to and refused. They gave me food and drinks but I didn't accept them. I rummaged through the trash to eat. I often went to restaurants and hotels to find food."
The Lucie Blackman Trust, an organization that helps British citizens abroad, confirmed on September 19 that Ms Lak was safe and being cared for by relatives. Her family will take her back to the UK.
