North Korea appoints new Director of General Political Bureau

According to a VNA reporter in Seoul, on May 25, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un appointed General Kim Su-gil - a member of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) - as Director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army.
The General Political Bureau is a powerful body responsible for personnel and control of the North Korean military leadership.
The agency was formerly headed by Kim Jong-gak as Director General.
Before being appointed to the position of Director General of the General Political Bureau, Mr. Kim Su-gil had served as Chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal People's Committee since April 2014./.
