North Korea could build ballistic missiles that can reach the US this year

In a closed-door meeting between South Korean intelligence and lawmakers, the agency said it had not detected any signs of an imminent nuclear test, although North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear test site appeared to be ready for an explosion at "any time".

Meanwhile, lawmakers say Pyongyang is also pushing harder to control outside information as it faces international sanctions.
