Propaganda leaflets were discovered at the Yongsan Garrison on December 21, shortly after a North Korean soldier defected to South Korea, according to Stars and Stripes.
In a Facebook post by US Forces Korea, officials said a significant number of North Korean propaganda leaflets and CDs have been placed at strategic locations across multiple US military facilities in South Korea.
"Given the number of foreign nationals gaining access to our military facilities through work, sponsorship and partnership programs, potential internal threats are ever-present," the statement said.
"Staff must report all suspicious individuals engaged in propaganda activities to authorities to help mitigate potential threats."
A North Korean soldier defected to South Korea across the land border on December 21. He is the fourth North Korean soldier to defect to South Korea this year.
In October, North Korea released balloons containing leaflets calling the US president “mentally deranged” into the streets of Seoul. Earlier, several propaganda images attacking Mr. Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in were also dropped into the demilitarized zone (DMZ) that separates the two sides of the peninsula.
