The second highest-ranking official of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea declared on April 15 that the country is ready to respond to any nuclear attack from the United States.

Speaking at a ceremony ahead of a military parade marking the 105th birthday of late President Kim Il-sung today (April 15), Mr. Choe Ryong-Hae, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of North Korea affirmed: "We are ready to respond to an all-out war with an all-out war."

“We are ready to respond with nuclear attacks in our own way against nuclear attacks,” Choe Ryong-Hae said.

The statement was made in the context that on the morning of April 15, North Korea held a grand military parade to show off its strength to celebrate the 105th birthday of late President Kim Il Sung.

Before April 15, when North Korea celebrated the 105th anniversary of the birth of late leader Kim Il Sung, there were many moves in the country that made the world worry that North Korea could conduct a "major event".

According to Reuters (UK), foreign journalists in North Korea have been told to prepare for a “major” event on April 15. North Korea has not given any further details about the event nor said whether it is related to the current political situation on the Korean peninsula.

About 200 journalists attended the Kim Il Sung birthday celebration this year. In the past, North Korea has said that the press prepares for special events on this day, but nothing major has happened.

However, the situation on the Korean peninsula in recent days seems to be different from previous years and it seems that North Korea is preparing to carry out that "important event".

According to CNN, the website 38 North, which specializes in analyzing the situation in North Korea (part of the US-Korea Institute, Johns Hopkins University), said on April 12 that North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear test site is ready for a sixth nuclear test.

Meanwhile, Pravda (Russia) reported that on April 12, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ordered more than 600,000 people, about 25% of the population of Pyongyang, to evacuate urgently. This raised concerns that North Korea was preparing for war.

China's national television station CCTV reported on April 14 that China's Air China announced that it will suspend flights on the Beijing-Pyongyang route from April 17.

The decision was made following reports of activity at North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear test site, a sign that Pyongyang may be ready to conduct a nuclear test ahead of the 105th anniversary of the birth of late President Kim Il Sung on April 15./.
