North Korea successfully tests solid-fuel hypersonic missile
(Baonghean.vn) - The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) added that the test did not affect the security of neighboring countries and "had nothing to do with the situation in the region".

Specifically, on January 15, according to Russia's TASS news agency, KCNA reported that North Korea conducted a test launch of a solid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile carrying a hypersonic warhead on January 14.
“On January 14, the General Rocket Bureau of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea conducted a test-fire of a solid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile with a hypersonic maneuverable warhead,” the news agency said, confirming that the launch was successful.
KCNA added that the test did not affect the security of neighboring countries and “had nothing to do with the situation in the region”.
Earlier, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said North Korea had tested an intermediate-range ballistic missile.
The South Korean military said on January 14 that it detected the launch from an area in or around Pyongyang at around 2:55 p.m., and that the missile flew about 1,000 kilometers before falling into the sea.
The move marked North Korea's first missile launch since launching the solid-fuel Hwasong-18 intercontinental ballistic missile on December 18.
Solid-fuel missiles are said to be harder to detect before launch than liquid-fuel missiles, which require more preparation, such as fueling, experts say.
