North Korea demands Japan pay compensation for “colonial crimes”
(Baonghean.vn) - On July 10, the Rodong Sinmun, the official mouthpiece of the Workers' Party of Korea, criticized Japan for inciting "hostility" against the Pyongyang government, and called on Tokyo to "compensate" for its colonial-era crimes if it truly wants peace and stability in the region.

In an editorial, Rodong Sinmun said that Japan is “making excuses” to achieve its goal of becoming a military power through a hostile policy, despite the growing peaceful trend surrounding the Korean Peninsula.
The newspaper stated: “A remarkable event is taking place on the Korean Peninsula, where the situation has been pushed to the brink of confrontation and war. Japan is uneasy with the current situation, because the atmosphere of reconciliation and calm on the Korean Peninsula is casting a shadow over Japan’s plot to seek a state of war.
Prime Minister Abe's team is creating a pretext to achieve its ambition of becoming a military giant and re-invading at all costs, by desperately inciting hostility towards North Korea."
The newspaper stressed: “If Japan truly wants peace and stability in the region, it needs to make a clear decision to compensate for the crimes it committed against Korea in the past,” referring to Japan’s colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula from 1910 to 1945.
North Korea has repeatedly issued statements criticizing Japan, as Tokyo has always called for maintaining strong pressure and sanctions against Pyongyang until the country completely destroys its nuclear and missile arsenal./.
