On October 22, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs submitted a document to the Prime Minister on the plan for Tet holiday and other holidays in 2025.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has announced the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday plan based on opinions from 16 ministries and sectors. Of these, 13 ministries agreed and 3 ministries did not object. If approved, officials, civil servants and public employees will have 9 consecutive days off, including 5 Tet holidays and 4 weekend days.

Specifically, workers will have a holiday from Monday, January 27, 2025 to Friday, January 31, 2025 (ie from December 28 to January 3). Since all 5 Tet holidays fall on working days, workers will have 2 more weekends off before and 2 days after Tet.

Therefore, the expected Tet holiday is from January 25 to February 2, 2025 (ie from December 26 to January 5).

The Ministry also encourages businesses to give their employees time off according to this schedule. For other businesses, they can choose one of three options: 1 day at the end of the year and 4 days at the beginning of the year; 2 days at the end of the year and 3 days at the beginning of the year; or 3 days at the end of the year and 2 days at the beginning of the year. Businesses must notify employees of the Tet holiday schedule 30 days in advance.

In addition, on the occasion of April 30 and International Labor Day (May 1), there will be a plan to take 5 consecutive days off from April 30 to May 4, 2025.

The National Day holiday is expected to last 4 days from August 30 to September 2, 2025.

These long holidays are intended to allow workers to recover, promote tourism and economic growth.
