Today (October 4), the third day of the trial of the North Korean citizen believed to be Kim Jong-nam, the prosecution presented to the court samples of the victim's blood, urine and liver tissue.

The Straits Times quoted prosecutors as saying that VX nerve agent, classified by the United Nations as a weapon of mass destruction, caused the death of the victim, believed to be Kim Jong-nam - the elder brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, on February 13 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The victim's bag, T-shirt and underwear were also presented to the court when the head of the Forensic Pathology Department of Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Dr. Mohd Shah Mahmood, gave testimony. Mr. Mahmood was the one who performed the autopsy on the body of "Kim Jong-nam".

The 11-page autopsy report, presented in court on October 3 as evidence, stated that traces of poison were found on the victim's clothes, eyes, skin, urine and blood.

Journalists covering the case in court were asked to wear masks to reduce the risk of exposure to VX. However, according to a Straits Times reporter, no one wore masks or gloves in court today (October 4), except for a few lawyers.

After the exhibits were presented, prosecutors and defense attorneys spent 20 minutes examining the samples, which were sealed in clear plastic bags. Most attorneys wore gloves and masks as a precaution because the VX-contaminated items could still be dangerous.

At today's trial, prosecutors tried to prove that VX poison was the sole cause of the victim's death, the Independent reported.

The two female suspects accused of murdering the victim, Doan Thi Huong and Siti Aisyah, both pleaded not guilty as soon as the trial began.
