Trinh Xuan Thanh unexpectedly paid billions to remedy the consequences

This afternoon (January 6), a private source ofVanguardconfirmed, on January 5, Trinh Xuan Thanh's family went to the Hanoi Civil Judgment Enforcement Agency to pay 2 billion VND and this agency received the above amount.
The person who paid the money on behalf of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh was Mr. Thanh's biological mother. Previously, on January 4, Mr. Thanh's mother visited Mr. Thanh at the detention camp. There, Mr. Thanh told his mother that with his responsibility as the head of the enterprise in the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) at that time, Mr. Thanh agreed and asked his family to voluntarily temporarily compensate for the amount of State money that was embezzled at PVC.
LikeVanguardreported that on January 8, the Hanoi People's Court will try the case that occurred at PVC. In this case, defendant Trinh Xuan Thanh is prosecuted for two crimes: "Intentionally violating State regulations on economic management causing serious consequences" and "Embezzlement of property".
According to the indictment, during the implementation of the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant Project, Trinh Xuan Thanh, in his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVC, directed defendant Vu Duc Thuan to sign EPC contract No. 33 so that PVC could receive an advance payment of 6,607,500 USD and over 1,312 billion VND.
Defendant Trinh Xuan Thanh decided to use more than 1,115 billion VND of this advance payment for other purposes, not for the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant Project, causing a loss to the State of over 119 billion VND.
