Trump assistant resigns after accusations of assaulting ex-wife
The person responsible for submitting documents for US President Trump's signature announced his resignation.

White House SecretaryRob Porter said on February 7 that he would resign.after being accused of assaulting two ex-wives.However, he did not specify when this decision would take effect.Porter is the person who reviews many documents presented to President Trump for signature, according toReuters.
Previously, the ex-wifeColbie Holderness said hePorter punched and choked her at their wedding. And sheJennifer Willoughby,Porter's other ex-wife also said he was abusive.
"Those outrageous allegations are false,"Mr. Porter said in the statement, stressing that he wouldensure a smooth transition when he leaves his position as secretary.The allegations against Mr. Porter surprised many in the White House, who saw him as a courteous and easygoing adviser.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said background checks on individuals are carefully vetted and conducted by intelligence and law enforcement agencies. She said Porter did a good job, President Trump and the White House chief of staff said.John Kelly has confidence in Mr. Porter's abilities.
