Golfer Tran Phuong became a "billionaire" thanks to a hole-in-one in Quy Nhon.

Golfer Tran Phuong's shot was made at hole number 16 (par 3) at the FLC Golf Championship 2017, in his first time competing at the course in Quy Nhon.

“This is also the first time in my life that I have hit a hole-in-one. I have hit the ball once before and it bounced back to the flag,” golfer Tran Phuong shared. “This achievement is primarily due to luck. In addition, part of it comes from my club choice. Normally, on these holes, people often choose woods or irons. However, I found that the wind was strong, and if I used these two clubs, the ball would go high, which would affect my performance. Therefore, I chose the driver to make the ball go low.”

Statistics show that no other sports score is as rare as a hole-in-one in golf. The odds of hitting an ace in golf are 3,000/1 for professional golfers, 5,000/1 for low handicappers and 12,000/1 for amateurs.

With his hole-in-one on February 19, Tran Phuong immediately became a billionaire. The golfer, born in Hanoi but living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, received three luxury cars, $10,000 in cash and an apartment in the Sea Tower project in Quy Nhon, with a total prize of VND6.7 billion.
