At the Northern Regional Conference to provide feedback on the draft Government Summary Report on the results of public consultations on the draft amended Criminal Code, organized by the Ministry of Justice and the Government Office yesterday, September 22nd.

Deputy Minister of Justice Dinh Trung Tung stated that the majority of opinions (56 out of 75 reports from central ministries, agencies, organizations, and localities) agreed on adding cases of theft where the value of the stolen property is less than 2 million VND but it is the "main means of livelihood for the victim and their family, or has special spiritual value to the victim and their family," and therefore should still be subject to criminal prosecution.

However, those who agreed also suggested that the drafting committee clarify what constitutes "the primary means of livelihood or property of special spiritual value" to ensure accurate and effective application of the law.
