Stealing phone accounts to extort personal property
(Baonghean.vn)- Van took over Mr. H's iPhone icloud account (taking personal information and photos). Van created multiple accounts on the Zalo application to send threatening messages to Mr. H. to give him money, otherwise he would use personal information to defame Mr. H. on social networks.
On April 10, Thanh Chuong District Police (Nghe An) said they were detaining Gian Tu Van (born in 1990), residing in Nam Son Commune, Do Luong District (Nghe An) for the act of extortion.
Previously, on April 6, 2023, in Cat Van commune, Thanh Chuong district, Thanh Chuong district police broke up a case, arresting Gian Tu Van (born in 1990), residing in Nam Son commune, Do Luong district, for extortion. Through the investigation, the police proved that at the time of his arrest, Van had appropriated property of a victim worth more than 100 million VND.

Accordingly, taking advantage of their close relationship, Van took over the icloud account on the iPhone of Mr. NLH (born in 1998), residing in Nam Son commune, Do Luong district, to obtain personal information and images. After that, Van created many accounts on the Zalo application to send threatening messages to Mr. H. to give money, otherwise he would use the images and personal information to fabricate information to defame Mr. H. on social networking sites.
Currently, Thanh Chuong District Police are continuing to investigate and handle the subject according to the provisions of law.
