GM Vietnam has demonstrated its determination to capture market share in the increasingly attractive pickup truck segment by introducing the "complete set" of four versions of the new generation Colorado.
According to calculations, the pickup truck segment in Vietnam experienced a growth rate of 168% in 2014 compared to 2013. This is a truly attractive figure for car manufacturers. However, with only a single version previously available, the Colorado was somewhat at a disadvantage in the competition compared to its rivals.
This time, the American automaker is bringing in all the currently available versions of the new generation Chevrolet Colorado.
Of these, the only version equipped with an automatic transmission is the LTZ 2.8L. This is also currently the top-of-the-line version of the Colorado.
The Colorado LTZ 2.8L AT uses a 2.8-liter Duramax turbocharged diesel engine, producing a maximum power of 193 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 500 Nm at 2,000 rpm. It features a 6-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is equipped with 4x4 drive, anti-lock braking system (ABS), and the MyLink infotainment system.
Another version also uses the 2.8-liter Duramax turbocharged diesel engine: the LTZ 2.8L MT 4x4. The difference in this version is the 6-speed manual transmission, and the maximum torque is 60 Nm lower, although the maximum power is the same at 193 horsepower at the same engine speed. The car also features ABS brakes and the MyLink infotainment system, but with more limited functionality.
The two remaining LT versions are both equipped with a 2.5-liter Duramax turbocharged diesel engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, producing a maximum power of 161 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 380 Nm at 2,000 rpm. One version uses a 4x4 all-wheel drive system, while the other uses a 4x2 all-wheel drive system.
LTZ versions feature leather seats, automatic climate control, a 6-way power adjustable driver's seat, dual screens, a collision warning system, power adjustable rearview mirrors with integrated turn signals, LED taillights, and projector headlights. LT versions have cloth upholstery, manual climate control, a 4-speaker entertainment system, a manually adjustable driver's seat, and a coded key.
GM Vietnam's retail prices for the LTZ 2.8L AT 4x4 are VND 749 million, the LTZ 2.8L MT 4x4 is priced at VND 719 million, the LT 2.5L MT 4x4 is priced at VND 629 million, and the LT 2.5L MT 4x2 is priced at VND 599 million.
A representative from GM Vietnam stated that during the initial market launch, customers placing orders will enjoy a range of incentives such as a 100% waiver of registration fees, enhanced comprehensive insurance packages, and various accessories. Deliveries of the new Chevrolet Colorado are expected to begin in late March or early April 2015.
