Growing seedless lemons with thin skin and juicy flesh in Do Luong.
(Baonghean.vn) - To increase the income of farmers, at the end of January 2018, the Do Luong District Agricultural Extension Station established a model for growing seedless lemons in the communes of Dai Son, Thuan Son, Boi Son, and Xuan Son.
From the center of Thuan Son commune, traversing many red soil hills, accompanied by district agricultural extension officers, we visited the hillside garden and livestock farming model of Ms. Tran Thi Nghia's family. Currently, she has renovated and planted 1,000 seedless lemon trees on her large hillside. Ms. Nghia said that her family is very excited to participate in the project and will try their best to take good care of the trees to achieve economic efficiency.
The seedless lemon planting project was handed over by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology to the Do Luong District Agricultural Extension Station for investment on an area of 5 hectares, distributed across 6 farms in Dai Son, Thuan Son, Boi Son, and Xuan Son communes.

Farmers receive 100% of the seedlings sourced from Hai Au Farm in Ben Lut District, Long An Province. In addition, they receive technical support for cultivation, a portion of the fertilizer, a water supply system, electricity, and a water pump.
Mr. Tang Van Hong, an engineer at the Do Luong District Agricultural Extension Station, said: “Before farmers started planting, the station organized training sessions on planting techniques and provided practical guidance to help them master the techniques. During the planting process, the station sent staff directly to the gardens to guide them through the stages of soil preparation, digging holes, planting, and caring for the trees.”

The advantage of seedless lemons is that the trees bear fruit year-round, yielding harvests after only two years of planting; they can be harvested for over 10 years before needing to be cut down. Seedless lemon trees produce large fruits, 6-7 fruits per kilogram, with thin skin, juicy flesh, a refreshing sour taste, and a fragrant aroma. After harvesting, the fruit only needs to be stored under normal conditions to keep for a long time, maintaining its fresh green peel.
Besides, the investment cost for growing seedless lemons is not high, and the care process is not difficult. A 1-hectare plot can yield 30-40 tons of fruit per year. According to a...According to Le Van Chien, Deputy Head of the Agricultural Extension Station, seedless lemons currently have a very large market demand. After successfully implementing the model, they will continue to expand it so that seedless lemons become a key commodity.
