Trong Hoang says goodbye to the Vietnam national team

Trong Hoang contributed to helping Vietnam win the AFF Championship 2018.

On the morning of December 1, on his personal page, Trong Hoang shared: "Closing the 14-year journey in the national team jersey.

Fans often joke that Hoang has "no lungs" and "no fatigue". But the truth is that Hoang "has lungs" and every journey must come to an end.

Trong Hoang grew up in the club's shirtLam River Nghe An. This player's starting point was playing in the right midfielder position. In 2009, Trong Hoang was officially called up to the national team by coach Calisto. Although Vietnam has gone through many coaches since then, Trong Hoang has always been one of the number 1 priorities for the midfielder position. Especially in 2018, when coach Park Hang-seo led the Vietnamese team, Trong Hoang was brought back to play in the right-back position. It was the appearance of the "Lungless Man" in this position that contributed to the Vietnamese team winning the Gold Medal in men's football at the 2019 Sea Games; AFF Cup 2018.

Trong Hoang shared: "Hoang came to football with a burning passion. Luckily, after so many years, Hoang still loves football like the first day. Hoang once shared with young players that his only secret is hard work, hard training, hard learning, always thinking about football, always living with football, the worthy results will come."

Despite leaving the Vietnam national team, Trong Hoang will still play for Song Lam Nghe An Club until the end of his contract. His contract with his hometown team lasts for 3 years from the beginning of 2022 and ends at the end of 2024.

"This journey ends, so we can move on to a new journey, which will certainly always have football as a companion.

Trong Hoang was born in 1989 in a family with a tradition of working as a police officer in Vinh city. At the age of 10, Trong Hoang became a U11 player of SLNA. At the age of 13, Hoang joined the U13 Vietnam team, winning the Bronze Medal of the U13 Asia tournament. At the age of 15, Hoang was the captain of the U15 team of SLNA, winning the national U15 championship, then continuously won the national gold medal with the U17, U18, U19 teams of SLNA... At the age of 18, Trong Hoang was promoted to the first team of Song Lam Nghe An to compete in the V.League 2007.

In 2013, after his contract with SLNA ended, Trong Hoang joined Becamex Binh Duong. In 2016, he played for FLC Thanh Hoa.

In February 2019, Trong Hoang officially signed a contract to play for Viettel and quickly became a mainstay of the club. He was one of the factors contributing to Viettel's 2020 V.League 1 championship. In 2022, after his contract with Viettel ended, he returned to his hometown team.
