Three cases of illegal timber trafficking were seized in one day.
(Baonghean.vn) - On December 31, 2013, Mobile Forest Protection and Fire Prevention Team No. 1 discovered and seized three cases of illegal timber transportation on National Highway 7, section passing through Tuong Duong (approximately 9 cubic meters of various types of wood).
In the first incident, at approximately 2:30 AM on December 31st, the team discovered and apprehended Vo Van Danh, who was driving a pickup truck with license plate 37C.062.56 carrying 1.3 cubic meters of sawn timber that had been cut into small pieces and hidden in the truck bed, passing through Luu Kien commune, Tuong Duong district. In the second incident, at approximately 3:00 AM, the team discovered a transport vehicle with license plate 37C.045.56 passing through the Cua Rao area of Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong district. Upon inspection, they found 0.5 cubic meters of timber, cut into planks, concealed on top of sacks of ginger.

According to the confession of the transporter, Vu Van Tan from Thai Nguyen, the timber was being transported from Nam Can-Ky Son. In the third incident at 5:00 AM, the team discovered and apprehended a transport vehicle with license plate 37C-745 carrying over 7 cubic meters of illegally harvested timber of various types in Tam Dinh commune, Tuong Duong district. The driver fled. The timber and the vehicle have been seized and are being processed.
