In recent years, the area of ​​water spinach in Dien Thanh has expanded from a few hectares to more than 16 hectares. From early morning, people have been busy going to the fields to pick vegetables to sell in time for the morning market. Ms. Do Thi Nga, hamlet 6, has been growing 1 sao of water spinach this year. After the recent rain, the water spinach has grown lushly, every day, she picks 50 bunches to sell at the market. With the current price of 3,000 VND/bunch, her family earns 150,000 VND/day. As for Ms. Cao Thi Lan, hamlet 8, water spinach is the main source of income for her family, almost every day her family earns hundreds of dollars from water spinach.

Currently, the total vegetable land area of ​​the whole commune is 209 hectares, of which the land for growing water spinach is 16.32 hectares. All 11 hamlets of the commune have water spinach areas. Of which, the most concentrated planting is in hamlets 5, 6, 7, 10, 11 with 12.91 hectares. Each household plants an average of nearly 1 sao.

Dien Thanh people said that growing water spinach has many advantages. This vegetable is easy to grow, easy to care for and has a year-round income. It only needs to be planted once and provided with enough water, occasionally adding fertilizer. For the vegetable to grow well, according to households, it must be harvested by hand. This is also considered a clean vegetable and easy to sell at markets.

After the rain, fresh water spinach is easier to sell.

Dien Thanh water spinach consumption is quite stable. Locally, some households in hamlets 10 and 11 focus on purchasing and consuming vegetable products for people. Households that do not import for these establishments can bring vegetables to retail markets. On average, each household growing water spinach has an income of 100,000-200,000 VND per day, and a month has 3 million - 5 million VND/sao.

Currently, the market price of vegetables is 2,000 VND/bunch. However, when vegetables are scarce, the price can increase to 4,000 - 5,000 VND/bunch. Every 3 or 4 a.m., Dien Thanh villagers gather together to go to the fields to pick vegetables to sell at the market early in the morning.

Play for real, families who grow a lot can earn 300 thousand dong per day.

Ms. Phan Thi Nhung, hamlet 6, Dien Thanh picks more than 50 bunches of vegetables every day, earning about 150,000 VND/day.
