People in Thanh Chuong district are focusing on harvesting biomass corn to sell to some dairy farms in Ha Tinh province. Ms. Cao Thi Ung in Ngoc Dinh hamlet, Thanh Ngoc commune, has 1 hectare of land that was previously mainly used to grow cassava. Due to long-term monoculture, the soil has become infertile and has low productivity. Starting from this year's spring crop, she has completely converted 5 sao to grow biomass corn. So far, after more than 80 days of planting, there are products to harvest.
"Growing biomass corn has many advantages, first of all, it shortens the time of each crop, increases the land use coefficient, and spreads out the harvest. Currently, 1 hectare of corn can be sold for 32 million VND after nearly 3 months. If you wait 120 - 130 days to harvest corn kernels, you can get 4.4 tons of dry corn, at best you can only sell for 25 million VND" - Ms. Cao Thi Ung said.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tan - Director of Thanh Ngoc Agricultural Cooperative said: To carry out the conversion is a process. First, we have to ask for the district's opinion and ask the district to introduce and guarantee to sign contracts with dairy farms and factories in Ha Tinh province and Nghi Loc district. After that, some members have to try it out.
The corn varieties planted prioritize those with short growing time and high density. Thanks to compliance with the processes and production, factories have provided seeds and fertilizers to support the people. In the spring crop of 2017, the whole Thanh Ngoc commune planted 100 hectares, estimated to earn over 3.2 billion VND...
