(Baonghean.vn) – This is the first year that Khanh Son commune (Nam Dan) has converted 15 hectares of peanuts to chili. Chili plants have a high yield, reaching 7 quintals/sao, estimated to bring in 1.5 billion VND/year.
Accordingly, 3 hamlets of Khanh Son 1 and 9 hamlets of Khanh Son 2 grow 15 hectares of chili; of which 10.5 hectares are local chili varieties and 4.5 hectares are commercial chili. On average, each household grows 1.5 - 2 sao of chili.

At this time, Khanh Son farmers are harvesting chili. |
For households growing 2 sao, every 2 days they harvest a batch (for joint-planting enterprises) with about 15 - 20 kg of chili, bringing in an income of about 200,000 VND. Thus, with a harvest time of 5-6 months, the average income is 2 million VND/month. Local chili varieties have a larger planting area but the price is not as high as that of chili peppers. Therefore, people mainly bring them home to dry, every 4 kg of fresh chili will produce 1 kg of dried chili peppers costing 40,000 VND/kg.
