Referee officiates the second leg of the 2022 AFF Cup final, a 'nemesis' of Thailand; Hanoi Club says goodbye to Doan Van Hau
(Baonghean.vn) - The referee of the second leg of the AFF Cup 2022 final is the 'nemesis' of Thailand; Man Utd defeated Man City with a controversial goal; Hanoi Club announced farewell to Doan Van Hau... are notable sports news in the past 24 hours.
The referee in charge of the second leg of the final is the "nemesis" of Thailand.
The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has assigned Japanese referee Jumpei Iida to officiate the second leg of the 2022 AFF Cup final at Thammasat Stadium. This "black shirt king" often does not bring luck to the Thai team.
Japanese referee Jumpei Iida is 41 years old this year, and has been a FIFA referee since 2011. He was assigned to officiate the second leg of the 2022 AFF Cup final. In the past, he has refereed many matches of Thailand and often did not bring luck to this team.
Specifically, referee Jumpei Iida officiated in the semi-final match of the 2019 King's Cup between Vietnam and Thailand, the 3rd place match of the King's Cup between Thailand and India, and the first leg of the 2016 AFF Cup final between Thailand and Indonesia. As a result, the Thai team lost all of these matches.
On the contrary, this Japanese referee has a great affinity with Vietnamese football. In addition to the 2019 King's Cup semi-final match in which Vietnam won with a minimum score against Thailand, Jumpei Iida also officiated the match in which the Vietnamese team defeated the UAE 1-0 in the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia at My Dinh Stadium.
That was the match in which this referee showed a red card to a player from the UAE side. He also officiated the match between Hanoi Club and Kitchee (Hong Kong, China) in the 2017 AFC Champions League.

The second leg of the 2022 AFF Cup final between Thailand and Vietnam will take place at 7:30 p.m. on January 16 in Thammasat (Thailand).
