Referee Vo Minh Tri honored by AFC
For his outstanding achievements and positive contributions to continental football in recent times, referee Vo Minh Tri will be honored by AFC next February in Malaysia.
With the title of “best referee of V.League 2017” won at the end of last season, referee Vo Minh Tri has also officially said goodbye to his refereeing career because he has reached the retirement age (45) according to FIFA regulations.
Recently, AFC sent an invitation to VFF informing that referee Vo Minh Tri will be honored by AFC along with a number of FIFA referees in Asia for his outstanding contributions in the past. The honoring ceremony will take place from February 7 to 9, 2018 in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
Talking to us, referee Minh Tri said: “This is a great honor and makes me feel very happy, because my efforts have been recognized by AFC. This is a beautiful ending after saying goodbye to my refereeing career.”
After the 2017 season, referee Vo Minh Tri has just participated in the 2017 U21 International Tournament organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper in Can Tho. Referee Tri said that his upcoming plan after retiring from the refereeing profession is to continue to be a physical education teacher at Thanh Da High School (HCMC).
This is a profession he has pursued for 24 years, parallel to his career as a referee. Besides, he still participates in training the Ho Chi Minh City youth referee class, which meets regularly every Thursday afternoon at Thong Nhat Stadium.
Although he is no longer a referee, in the coming time, referee Vo Minh Tri will gradually switch to supervising activities in Vietnamese tournaments.
