Midfielder Bui Tien Dung, who was brought onto the field in the second half, suffered a serious injury after a collision. According to the coaching staff, Tien Dung lost his balance and fell while trying to tackle his opponent, resulting in a broken collarbone.

On the morning of April 27, Tien Dung was taken to a hospital in Germany for surgery. According to the initial diagnosis of the doctors, the number 1 central midfielder of U-20 Vietnam must rest for 6-8 weeks. This also means that the door to participating in the U-20 World Cup has closed for Tien Dung, because on May 8, coach Hoang Anh Tuan must send a list of 21 players to participate in the tournament to the organizing committee.

In addition, there is no more time left for Tien Dung to recover as the U-20 Vietnam team will play the first match at the 2017 U-20 World Cup against U-20 New Zealand on May 22.

The absence of Tien Dung is a big loss for the U-20 Vietnam team because with good physique, strong fighting spirit and endurance, Tien Dung is like an important sweeper in the defensive - counter-attacking style of coach Hoang Anh Tuan.

In addition to Tien Dung's injury, the U-20 Vietnam team during their training trip in Germany also suffered two other injuries: midfielder Thai Quy and defender Tan Tai. Both were injured in the 4-0 win over U-21 Roda JC (Netherlands) on April 23. Accordingly, Thai Quy suffered a sprained knee ligament and will need about half a month to recover, while Tan Tai will also have to sit out for about a week due to a contusion of the soft tissue of his right shoulder.

According to the plan, the U-20 Vietnam team will arrive at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) on the evening of April 29. On May 8, the team will fly to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for a friendly match with U-20 Argentina at Thong Nhat Stadium on May 10.
