Notorious Mexican drug lord escapes prison.
Mexico's notorious drug lord, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, escaped from a high-security prison in central Mexico.

Video footage shows Guzman entering the shower area at Altiplano prison at 8:52 local time yesterday, Mexico's National Security Commission (CNS) said in a statement. Shortly after he disappeared from view, guards entered and found Guzman's cell empty. The CNS did not provide details on how Guzman escaped.
According to Reuters, flights from the city of Toluca, near Altiplano prison, have been suspended. Security personnel are searching for the criminal in the area.The capital is located approximately 90 km to the west.
Guzman was one of the world's most powerful organized crime bosses. He headed a group that smuggled billions of dollars worth of cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine into the United States.
After his arrest in 1993, the drug lord escaped from Puente Grande prison, near Guadalajara, in 2001. Media reports at the time claimed he escaped by hiding in a laundry basket. Guzman was recaptured in 2014. His assets are estimated at approximately $1 billion.
