Trump invents a new country in Africa

US President Donald Trump has twice mentioned the non-existent country of Namibia during a meeting with African leaders at the United Nations General Assembly.

A video of Mr. Trump's speech was posted on the White House's official YouTube channel.

"In Guinea and Nigeria, you have fought the Ebola outbreak. Namibia's health care system is increasingly self-reliant," the US president said.

At the same time, in the speech published later on the White House website, the word "Nambia" was replaced with "Namibia". In addition, the text of the speech underwent other changes.

Trump has previously made mistakes when naming countries. For example, the US President was criticized for using "The" when talking about Ukraine.

On Twitter, former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul took note of Trump's words and stressed that this term offended Ukrainians.
