Trump praises Pakistani prime minister as 'great man'

US President-elect Donald Trump on November 28 praised Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as a "great man" in a phone call.

"I am ready and willing to take on any role that you want me to play to address and find solutions to outstanding issues," US President-elect Donald Trump told Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, according to the APP news agency. "It would be an honor, I would do it myself."

According to a transcript of the call released by the Pakistan Press and Broadcasting Bureau yesterday, Mr Trump had many compliments for Mr Sharif as well as the Pakistani people. The US President-elect called the Pakistani Prime Minister "a great man" with a "good reputation".

“Right now, when I talk to you, I feel like I’m talking to someone I’ve known for a long time,” Mr. Trump said. “Your country is incredible, with tremendous opportunity.”

Mr Trump asked Mr Sharif to convey to the Pakistani people that “they are wonderful” and that “all the Pakistanis I know are very special”. The US president-elect also said he was willing to visit Pakistan in the future.
