US President Donald Trump on June 25 appointed Stephanie Grisham, spokeswoman for First Lady Melania, as the new White House press secretary after Sarah Sanders resigned on June 13.

"You know, she's really great with the media. A lot of people love her," Trump said of Grisham, adding that she would do "a great job."

Trump's decision was first announced by Melania on Twitter. "She has been with us since 2015. I can think of no one better to serve this administration and our country," the first lady said.

Grisham is said to be a Trump loyalist, having supported his presidential campaign and being known for his tough handling of Melania's office. However, the First Lady's White House activities seem to receive relatively little media attention.

Former press secretary Sanders has also been with Trump's team since his presidential campaign. For more than three years, Sanders has served as White House spokesperson and has become a close adviser to Trump, regularly attending high-level meetings. She often argues with the media and calls articles critical of Trump "fake news."
