The Financial Times commented that Jerusalem's status has always been a "time bomb" and the US president has just detonated it.
The most curious thing is that perhaps no one will benefit from Mr. Trump's move, nor does anyone in the world want this, not even Mr. Trump himself.
The UK-based newspaper commented: President Trump has almost united everyone against him, including close allies, angering Muslims, enraging extremists and not for the first time tarnishing America's image before the world.
Türkiye threatens to cut ties with Israel. The Islamist group Hamas threatens a new insurgency. The king of Jordan warns that recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital would play into the hands of terrorists. The decision also “complicates life” for Saudi Arabia, Trump’s chosen interlocutor in the region.
Moreover, Mr. Trump seems to have gone ahead with his own plans to conclude an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. It is strange that Mr. Trump, who prides himself on being a “dealmaker,” has revealed his cards before the negotiations, - the Financial Times commented.
