US President Donald Trump will visit Israel, the Vatican and Saudi Arabia on his first foreign trip since taking office, Politico reported today, citing White House officials.

Mr. Trump is scheduled to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican on May 24. The trip will conclude with a NATO meeting in Brussels, Belgium on May 25 and a G7 summit in Sicily, Italy a day later.

The first foreign trip is always a milestone for the US president, and the White House cabinet must also prepare in advance to strengthen ties with foreign allies. Last week, Israeli officials said they were in discussions with the US about arranging a visit by President Trump to Jerusalem.
