Trump sends Air Force One to carry Bush Sr.'s body to Washington

Trump announced that he will send a plane to carry his late predecessor's coffin from Texas to the capital for the funeral.

"Air Force One will take me and many others back to Washington. Then, it will be refurbished and continue to Houston to carry President Bush's coffin," US President Donald Trump announced on December 1 while attending the G20 conference, emphasizing "this is the special treatment he deserves," according toAFP.

Trump praised the "tremendous achievements" of the late President George HW Bush, saying he "was a wonderful man and will be missed by all of us." Trump also announced that he and First Lady Melania will attend Mr. Bush's state funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington.

The 41st President of the United States, Bush "father" passed away on November 30 in Houston, at the age of 94. The coffin of the late US President will be placed in the Capitol Dome in Washington for two days for people to visit, starting at 7:30 pm on December 3 and lasting until 7 am on December 5.

Dozens of world leaders and US officials are expected to attend the funeral of Bush "father" at the National Cathedral. After the funeral, the late President Bush's body will be taken to College Station, Texas for burial.

George HW Bush was elected the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993. A hardliner in foreign policy, he coined the term "new world order" in 1990 and ordered military intervention in the Middle East with Operation Desert Storm in 1991. His son, George W. Bush, later became the 43rd President of the United States.
