In his latest tweet, the US President threatened to “shut down” the federal government if Democrats do not support his border and immigration reform plans.
President Trump stated: “I will “shut down” the government if Democrats do not vote for Border Security, including the border wall... Give up lucky immigration tickets... move towards a merit-based immigration system. We need great people to come to America”.
Earlier this year, the US federal government shut down twice in three weeks because Democrats and Republicans in the Senate could not reach an agreement on immigration.

The Islamist rebel group Jabhet al-Nusra on July 29 surrendered a total of two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, three pickup trucks with machine guns, two artillery pieces and several mortars to the Syrian army before leaving its last defensive stronghold in the Jabata al-Khashab district of Quneitra province, according toAlmasdar News.
This is the last rebel group to surrender to the Syrian government army under a ceasefire deal brokered by Russia. Previously, groups belonging to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) agreed to hand over their weapons and withdraw from the area after a large-scale offensive by the Syrian army since mid-June.

The investigation report into the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was released on July 30, but it has yet to shed light on one of the world's biggest aviation mysteries.
Responding to the press, the head of the MH370 investigation team, Mr. Kok Soo Chon, said that the investigation team has not been able to determine the real cause of the disappearance of MH370. He said that the final answer can only be given when the investigation team finds the wreckage of the ill-fated plane.

According to AP, on July 30, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed that his country supports the "one country, two systems" policy for the Hong Kong special administrative region, despite concerns that Beijing is gradually destroying basic freedoms in this former British colony.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Wang Yi said Beijing would continue to pursue the system applied in Hong Kong when the special administrative region was returned to China in 1997. Beijing pledged to let Hong Kong maintain many of its autonomy and civil liberties for 50 years.
However, there are growing concerns that Chinese leaders are backtracking on this commitment by cracking down on political opposition in Hong Kong.

On July 30, the Thai government called on all Thai people to donate cash or goods and supplies to support victims after a dam collapse caused flooding in southern Laos.
Thailand's Ministry of Interior has instructed all 76 provinces of the country to set up centers to receive cash and donations to be sent to Attapeu province, southern Laos, where the Sepien Senamnoi hydropower dam collapsed on July 23.
Ministry officials called on people to donate good quality goods that are not easily damaged during transportation, and said they would continue to deliver donations to victims until the flood situation in Laos improves.

Indonesian authorities are stepping up efforts to rescue hundreds of climbers trapped on Mount Rinjani after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the resort island of Lombok, in West Nusa Tenggara province.
Of the 820 people present on the mountainside at the time of the earthquake, 246 were successfully evacuated, said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for Indonesia's National Disaster Management Agency.
There were 617 foreigners among them. Two mountain trails were badly damaged by the quake. Detik news site said two helicopters were sent to pick up the stranded people and deliver food.
