In a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim Yo-jong, who is currently the first vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, said the letter was a "good example of the special and solid personal relations" between Trump and Kim.

“We consider it a good judgment and the right action of the US President to make an effort to maintain the good relations he has with our President, through sending a personal letter at a time like this, when great difficulties and challenges are standing in the way of developing bilateral relations, and think this should be highly appreciated,” she said.

“In the letter, he also explained his plan to promote relations between the DPRK and the United States and expressed his intention to propose cooperation in anti-epidemic efforts, saying that he was impressed by the Chairman’s efforts to protect the people from the grave threat of the epidemic,” the North Korean leader’s sister added.
