On July 11, the US House of Representatives passed an amendment to the bill calling for a formal end to the Korean War. The amendment, proposed by two Democratic Representatives, Ro Khanna and Brad Sherman, was approved by the House of Representatives. This is the first time the US Congress has made such a move. The new content recognizes the importance of diplomatic efforts in achieving denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and argues that a formal end to the war is a key factor in achieving this goal.
Women Cross DMZ Director Christine Ahn said this is a clear sign that the American people want to end this conflict and that ending decades of hostility with a peace agreement is the only way to resolve the current nuclear crisis.

The UK will send the warship HMS Duncan to the Gulf, taking over from the HMS Montrose the task of ensuring freedom of navigation in this area. According to the announcement on July 12 by the British Government, sending the HMS Duncan to the Gulf is part of the country's ship rotation plan to ensure the continuous presence of British warships there. Accordingly, after the presence of HMS Duncan, the HMS Duncan will withdraw from all missions along with its crew. This also demonstrates the UK's commitment to stand side by side with international partners to support freedom of navigation in the Gulf.
In addition, a British official source said that from early next week, London will raise the security alert level for ships passing through Iranian waters to the highest level on a three-level warning scale. This level means that the UK assesses the security risks to commercial ships moving through the Islamic Republic's waters as "serious".

US President Donald Trump confirmed that the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will carry out a crackdown on illegal residents this weekend. A White House official also said that ICE will begin a nationwide operation on July 14, targeting thousands of illegal immigrants who have been ordered deported by US courts.
ICE said on June 21 that it had received instructions from the President to raid 2,040 illegal immigrant families living in 10 cities in the US, including Houston, Chicago, New York and Miami. However, Trump later announced that the process would be postponed so that Democrats and Republicans could work together to find a solution to the immigration crisis in the US. There are currently about 10.5 million illegal immigrants living in the US. Congress has authorized ICE to detain 40,000 migrants, many others are being sent to overcrowded detention facilities across the country.
