In an interview on October 16 on Fox TV, US President Donald Trump said he is definitely running for president in 2020, aiming for a second term in the White House. "Yes, 100%,"AFPTrump quoted referring to his intention to run for re-election.
The US president's first political test will come next month when Congress holds midterm elections. Democrats are expected to at least regain control of the House of Representatives from Republicans.
Trump defeated Democratic rival Hillary Clinton to become president of the United States in 2016. Before upsetting predictions that Clinton would win easily, Trump also defeated a series of experienced Republican candidates to become the party's representative.
Several Democrats have begun to reveal their intentions to run against Trump in 2020. The president has suggested that Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York and media mogul, will be on the list. However, like other potential opponents, Trump considers Bloomberg “easy to deal with.”
