Punishing North Korea, Kim Jong-un says he will still be alive and well in 100 years
North Korean leader boasts that his country can withstand opponents for 100 years despite sanctions.
Two leaders of the US and North Korea.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has said that his country can withstand enemy pressure for a century.
His comments came as world leaders began to put pressure on North Korea by approving sanctions targeting Kim Jong-un's nuclear program.
In light of recent developments, Kim Jong-un has praised the country's technology and economy.
"Thanks to the foundation of the scientific and technical forces of the national economy trained by ourselves with our own efforts, we have no difficulty in overcoming the enemies' sanctions for 10 years or 100 years," Kim Jong-un added in his speech on Friday.
Pyongyang conducted several missile tests in 2017, with the most recent test in November.
Kim Jong-un boasts that his missiles can reach most US cities, which could lead to millions of deaths if he orders a weapons test launch.
However, it appears that North Korea may have lost the support of its only ally, China. Beijing is stepping up its economic sanctions against North Korea.
