According to the newspaper, two of the seven North Korean agents were arrested for allegedly plotting to assassinate Kim Han Sol, the son of Kim Jong Nam, who was believed to have been assassinated in Malaysia earlier this year.
The newspaper added that some agents were being questioned at special locations on the outskirts of Beijing, but did not specify whether the remaining five agents had been arrested. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has yet to comment on the incident.
For a long time, South Korean government officials have speculated that Kim Jong-un was behind the assassination of his half-brother, Kim Jong Nam.
Earlier this month, the North Korean leader promoted his younger sister, Kim Yo-jong, 28, to the Politburo of the Workers' Party of Korea, the country's top decision-making body. The appointment is seen as a move to further consolidate power./.
