Earthquake in Yunnan, China: 1 dead, 22 injured.

A total of 339,000 people in Pu'er city were affected by the earthquake, and more than 11,000 local residents had to be displaced.

Chinese authorities announced yesterday that at least one person was killed and 22 others injured in a 5.9 magnitude earthquake that shook Yunnan province in southwestern China on December 6.

The most recent earthquake in the area also caused significant damage.

The earthquake, at a depth of 10km, was clearly felt at 6:20 PM on December 6th in Pu'er city. Approximately 16 hours earlier, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake had also occurred in the same area. Both of these tremors are believed to be aftershocks from the 6.6 magnitude earthquake on October 7th.

A total of 339,000 people in Pu'er city were affected by the earthquake, with over 11,000 local residents displaced. The earthquake destroyed 1,302 houses, and many others were damaged. More than 100 experts were dispatched to the earthquake zone to assess the damage and instruct local residents on how to evacuate in case of another earthquake.

Approximately 2,500 firefighters, police officers, and government officials are intensifying their relief efforts. The Chinese government has just mobilized 698 tents and 3,028 blankets for residents in disaster-stricken areas.
