Premier Li Keqiang affirmed that the two countries need to strengthen strategic communication by maintaining existing annual meetings between leaders and intergovernmental consultations, and enhancing communication and coordination on regional and international issues.

The Chinese Premier stated that Sino-German cooperation is not only in the interests of both countries but also beneficial to China-EU relations and the world. He emphasized that China is ready to work with Germany to further promote diverse and in-depth cooperation.

In addition, the two prime ministers urged discussions to avoid trade disputes between Beijing and the EU, warning that protectionist measures would harm both sides.

In a press conference with Prime Minister Li Keqiang, Merkel stated that over the next six months, Germany will pursue as many discussions as possible to resolve trade disputes related to Chinese telecommunications and solar panel products.
