China sends 'deep diving monster' Jiaolong back to sea

On February 6, Chinese scientists began their 38th ocean expedition with the country's first domestically produced manned deep-sea submersible, named 'Giao Long'.

The mother ship "Xiangyanghong 09" (Xiangyanghong 09) left Qingdao city carrying the Jiaolong and a crew of 150 to make a 124-day voyage. This is the longest voyage of the Jiaolong ever.

During this trip, Chinese scientists will conduct exploration in many areas, including the northwestern Indian Ocean, the Yap Trench and the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific Ocean.

This expedition will last from February 6 to June 9./.
