According to the above source, each Vietnamese bride is sold for about 60,000 yuan (more than 200 million VND).
In total, Truong Mo Kien bought and sold 14 women, one of whom became Truong's wife.
The case of Truong Mo Kien helping others buy wives has alarmed the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and this case is listed as one of the national cases.
According to information from the police, 24 suspects have been arrested and 10 Vietnamese brides have been rescued.
Below is the story of Truong Mo Kien's journey from a hired worker to a trafficker of women:
"First, listen to your friends' enticement and buy yourself a wife.
In August of 2011, I went to work in Danyang, Jiangsu and met a co-worker. He was from Anhui and said his wife was from Yunnan. Because my left leg was injured and I could not do heavy work, it was difficult for me to get married. He asked me if I wanted to find a wife and my parents and I agreed.
Then this friend found a photo of a girl on his phone to show me, who is also my current wife. I agreed.
Then he took me to Funing County, Yunnan to meet a man about 40 years old. Then the three of us went from Funing to Puyang. In Puyang, I met my wife.
My friend immediately told me to give the man 49,800 yuan (more than 170 million VND). After I paid the man 49,800 yuan, my wife and I, along with my friend and a man who claimed to be my wife's father (in fact, he wasn't), along with a young man, returned to Phu Ninh. From there, my wife, my friend and I took a car back to Don Duong.
The next day, my wife and I took the bus home.
In addition, when I bought a wife in Yunnan, I gave my friend 6,000 yuan (more than 20 million VND) as a brokerage fee. My wife said she was 22 years old.
On the wedding day, my aunt asked me to buy a wife for her nephew.
On my wedding day, my aunt asked me if I could help her buy a wife for her nephew. I agreed. Because a while ago, someone from Yunnan called me and asked if they needed a wife in their area and told me to contact them.
Later, Yunnan sent photos and the aunt's grandson (Tieu Uy) agreed.
The next day, Xiao Wei's father came to my house to ask how much money was needed to go to Yunnan to buy a person. I said I needed 2,000 yuan for travel expenses and a bank card. Then, Xiao Wei and I set off and went to my wife's hometown to find a bride. But because the girl in the photo had a disability in her hand, Xiao Wei did not agree.
After 4-5 days, the matchmaker brought another girl (Xiao Li) and Xiao Wei agreed. The matchmaker said that he needed to give more than 50,000 yuan (more than 170 million VND) to the girl's family. I did not agree because it was too much. After that, the two sides traded for 46,600 yuan. Finally, the matchmaker wanted to add another 5,000 yuan as an introduction fee.
Acquaintances and relatives want to buy a bride
While I was still in Yunnan looking for girls, an aunt from the countryside called and said she needed to find a wife for her nephew (Xiao Le). On the phone, I told her that Xiao Wei did not like a girl with a hand disability and she accepted.
After I returned from Yunnan, a relative also contacted me and said he wanted to find a daughter-in-law for the family.
After 3-4 days, the matchmaker in Yunnan sent me a photo of the girl, and the other family agreed. After negotiating, both sides agreed on a price of more than 60,000 yuan. This included an introduction fee of 10,000 yuan (I got 5,000 yuan and the broker got 5,000 yuan). After that, many people wanted me to buy a bride.
And so I became a professional trafficker of women."
Just like that, Truong Mo Kien went back and forth to Van Nam-Ling Bi more than 10 times to help others buy 14 Vietnamese girls. After the case was filed, on December 4, 2015, more than 140 police officers were mobilized to arrest Truong Mo Kien and the woman buyers and rescue the victims./.
