(Baonghean.vn)- On November 15, the People's Daily quoted Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), Mr. Yang Xiaodu, affirming that Beijing must strengthen the fight against corruption to ensure that the country does not collapse like the Soviet Union.

Yang Xiaodu, who was elected to the 19th Politburo of the Communist Party of China last month, stressed that in the previous period, corruption was so rampant that it weakened the Party's leadership, while ideological supervision and propaganda were lax.

“Corruption has become so widespread that if it is not corrected, the country could change color. The future fate of the Party and the people could follow the path of the Soviet Union,” the official stressed.

Mr. Duong's statement is the latest move showing that Mr. Xi Jinping's personal anti-corruption campaign will not decline despite the departure of his right-hand man, Wang Qishan, former Secretary of the CCDI, in the recent leadership reshuffle./.
