China continues its efforts to rescue earthquake victims.

China's Ministry of Land and Resources has warned of the risk of double damage from landslides caused by heavy rains.

Rescue efforts following the earthquake in Ya'an City, Baoxing County, Sichuan Province, China, have entered their third day. The search for victims and the mitigation of the earthquake's aftermath are still actively underway. Rescue teams and medical personnel are continuously being deployed to the area. Simultaneously, China is actively providing food to the affected population to prevent starvation.

According to Chinese media, as of the morning of April 22nd (China time), 208 people had died, 25 were missing, and 11,460 were injured as a result of the earthquake. These numbers are still rising, as Chinese police have confirmed that many more people remain trapped in the rubble.

Meanwhile, following the aftershocks, heavy rain fell in Sichuan and surrounding areas on April 22nd. China's Ministry of Land and Resources warned residents of the risk of landslides due to the heavy rain.

Many countries have sent condolences and expressed their willingness to help China overcome the consequences of the earthquake. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent condolences to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. In his message, Prime Minister Abe emphasized: "Japan has a great deal of experience in earthquake prevention. Therefore, Japan is ready to share that experience with China."

In response to Japan's goodwill, a Chinese government official thanked the Japanese government and people and stated that currently, not only Japan but many other countries are also offering assistance to China.

In 2008, a major earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale struck Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, killing more than 250,000 people.
