China's Ministry of Commerce said on May 31 that it would soon publish a list of foreign companies and individuals that Beijing considers "unreliable" - a move that is expected to further escalate tensions in the trade war between the US and China.
Specifically, Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng said that foreign companies, organizations and individuals will be put on the list of "unreliable entities" if they do not comply with market regulations, go against the rules in contracts, or block or stop supplying goods to Chinese enterprises for non-commercial purposes and seriously damage the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises in the host country. Gao Feng said that detailed measures will be announced in the near future. According to observers, Beijing's move is aimed at putting pressure on foreign companies to maintain commercial relations with the country's telecommunications group Huawei.

President Vladimir Putin welcomed eight large families from various cities and regions of the country to the Kremlin on the evening of May 31 (Russian time) for the annual honoring ceremony. He awarded them the Order of Parental Glory in gratitude for their contribution to combating Russia's population decline, with each family having seven or more children. The country's population is expected to fall from 144 million to 138 million by 2035, although it has been relatively stable in recent years.
