Speaking at a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said: "China opposes the launches by North Korea, which violate UN Security Council resolutions. In any case, relevant parties should exercise restraint and avoid anything that may provoke parties or further escalate tensions in the region."

Geng Shuang also said that on March 3, China's nuclear envoy Wu Dawei had a phone call with his US and South Korean counterparts. During that call, Wu warned both Washington and Seoul that large-scale joint military exercises between the US and South Korea would not help resolve the issue on the Korean Peninsula, but could further complicate the situation.
Also reacting to North Korea's launch, on the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow was extremely concerned about North Korea's recent missile tests, including the launch of four ballistic missiles that morning.
Speaking at an online meeting with reporters, Mr. Peskov emphasized that these are actions that lead to increased tensions in the region and of course in this situation, as usual, Moscow calls on all parties to exercise restraint.
