The Central Committee highly agrees on the personnel plan for the President and National Assembly Chairman.
On the morning of May 18, in his closing speech at the 9th Conference of the Party Central Committee, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong noted many important contents related to personnel work.
The General Secretary said that the Central Committee has democratically discussed, carefully considered and reached a high consensus on the plan to complete the positions of President and National Assembly Chairman so that the National Assembly Party Delegation can introduce it to the National Assembly for decision at the 7th session taking place on May 20.
Pay attention to discovering and introducing new potential factors.
According to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Central Committee has democratically discussed and given directions on the preparation of party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress.
The Central Committee has contributed many specific and accurate opinions to the submission and draft Directive of the Politburo; focused on discussion, analysis, and creating high consensus on the contents the Politburo asked for opinions on.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated that this is an important task that needs to be implemented soon in the spirit of continuing to innovate in a practical and effective direction; promoting democracy while maintaining the Party's principles, discipline and order; ensuring to strengthen solidarity, improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members.
Therefore, party committees at all levels need to pay attention to leading and directing the discussion and contribution of comments to the draft documents of the 14th National Congress of Delegates and the congresses of higher-level party committees; at the same time, prepare well the reports of their own party committees.
The General Secretary noted that the report of the Party Executive Committee needs to thoroughly grasp the orientation for preparing documents for the 14th Congress; closely follow the actual situation of localities and units; correctly assess the implementation of the resolutions of the past term; clearly point out the results and achievements that have been achieved, the remaining limitations and weaknesses, and the causes and lessons learned.
From there, propose directions, goals, tasks and highly feasible solutions for the next term and longer-term vision.
Preparations for party congresses at all levels must be closely linked to the implementation of regular tasks, ensuring high efficiency. In particular, attention must be paid to detecting and solving practical problems that arise, especially those that cause public concern.
In particular, the General Secretary requested that the work of preparing personnel and electing Party committees must be carried out in accordance with the Party's Charter, regulations and rules; carefully review to select, introduce and elect truly worthy and qualified personnel who meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation; pay attention to discovering and introducing new promising factors, ensuring the proportion of young cadres, female cadres and ethnic minority cadres.
The Central Executive Committee assigned the Politburo, after this conference, to urgently direct the early completion and issuance of Directives to guide the entire Party to prepare and successfully conduct Congresses at all levels, contributing to the success of the 14th Party Congress.
Electing 4 additional Politburo members with high confidence votes
Another important content at this conference is that the Central Committee considers and decides on a number of important issues regarding personnel work.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the Central Executive Committee has democratically discussed, carefully considered and reached a high consensus on the plan to complete the positions of President and Chairman of the National Assembly so that the National Assembly Party Delegation can introduce it to the National Assembly for consideration and decision at the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly, scheduled to open on May 20, 2024.
In addition, with a high rate of votes of confidence, the Central Committee elected to the Politburo the following: Le Minh Hung - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission, Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office; Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Propaganda and Education Commission; Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; Do Van Chien - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The Central Executive Committee has decided to let Ms. Truong Thi Mai resign from her positions as Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Executive Committee to retire from work because she violated the rules that Party members are not allowed to do.
The Central Executive Committee has decided to expel from the Party the following: Duong Van Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Bac Giang Province; Mai Tien Dung - former Member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister, Head of the Government Office.
The Central Committee also decided to discipline and remove from all Party positions Mr. Le Thanh Hai, former Politburo member, former Secretary of the City Party Committee, former Secretary of the Party Committee, and former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, for violating Party regulations and State laws.
